
Church’s Texas Chicken® Announces Winner of OG Crunch Challenge
Contest Celebrating Legendary Crunch and Flavor Raises Funds for Marine Toys for Tots Foundation
ATLANTA– February 13, 2025 – Church’s Texas Chicken®, one of the largest quick-service chicken restaurant chains in the world, announced the winner of its OG Crunch Challenge contest, crowning the champion of crunch. The winner, Shannon Harris, wowed the nation with an original rap showcasing her creativity and love for Church’s Texas Chicken® and its legendary fried chicken. She received 2,500 votes and the grand prize of $5,000 for her winning video which featured a catchy beat, playful wordplay, and an unforgettable line: “Looking for the best chicken? Call off your searches. Sundays might be for church, but every day is for Church’s®.”
Crunch for Charity
Not only did the OG Crunch Challenge celebrate creativity, individuality and Church’s® legendary fried chicken, but it was for a great cause. Fans had the chance to vote on their favorite OG Crunch Challenge videos with the option to purchase extra votes. Proceeds from the extra votes purchased and funds donated by the brand and franchisees were donated to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, helping to bring joy to kids and families around the holidays. With $8,000 raised through the OG Crunch Challenge, more than 320 children woke up Christmas morning to find toys, books, and stocking stuffers gifts just for them.
“The OG Crunch Challenge truly showcased our guests’ love for our legendary fried chicken through unique creative approaches and self-expression while also helping to give back to an incredible charity,” said Chef Kevin Houston, executive chef at Church’s Texas Chicken®. “We are pleased to crown Shannon Harris as the first-ever OG Crunch Challenge champion while bringing joy to local families around the holidays.”
The Challenge
Church’s® put out a call for fans to showcase their “OG Crunch”—a personal talent, skill, or trait that defines them for the chance to with the grand prize of $5,000. From November 19-December 19, 2024, participants uploaded videos, and the public had the opportunity to cast their votes for their favorite video. Voters also had the option to “buy” additional votes where proceeds went directly to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.
